This is a vital question since the presence of these entities poses a great threat and danger at a time when bloody scenarios are being discussed at so-called think tanks in the US. There is no way we can understate the situation. The clandestine organizations, whose existence within the state apparatus became evident after the truck accident in Susurluk 10 years ago, were not taken to justice despite the parliamentary commissions. Nobody was able to prosecute those responsible. This made them more courageous. And now they are preparing to assume new roles in an environment suitable for coups through bloody scenarios.
A retired captain and a noncommissioned officer were arrested two days ago in connection with the 27 hand grenades confiscated in a slum house in Ümraniye, İstanbul. Another noncommissioned officer was previously arrested in relation to the same incident. The grenades are the same type as those used in the attack on Cumhuriyet daily last year.
The person who was allegedly involved in the said attack and the State Council attack had prior affiliation with those who are currently accused of being members of a secret organization. All of them are pictured together with retired Gen. Veli Küçük in different photos.
Likewise the name of Sedat Bucak, a major player in the Susurluk incident, was mentioned in a recently revealed mafia incident; along with, of course, Küçük… Now we have a sketch drawn in a statement given by former Security General Directorate Intelligence Chief Hanefi Avcı to the parliamentary commission on Susurluk.
Clandestine groups created inside the intelligence organizations of the General Security Directorate, the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) and the Gendarmerie Intelligence engaged in outlawed activities. We notice the existence of those groups and their activities in Susurluk, and the Sauna and Atabey operations as well as in the most recent grenade-seizure. We recall them in connection with the Şemdinli incident, the attack on the State Council, the priest murders in Trabzon and Malatya and the assassination of Hrant Dink. We, all of a sudden, recollect the chain of murders whose perpetrators still remain at large.
Some take vows on weapons and flags to kill and be killed. They identify themselves with an ultranationalist movement. The major players in the US administration support this movement through think tank organizations in secret meetings. These actors try to drag Turkey to the Iraqi quagmire using opposition to the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) as trump card.
This is the real picture that should be noticed. The ultranationalists of Turkey and the US together want to accomplish something. This is a blatant attempt to make Turkey involved in President Bush’s defeat and failure. The US cannot be influential in Iraq anymore. As soon as the Bush administration leaves power, the US will withdraw from the region. However the Bush administration wants to make Turkey involved in the Iraqi mess while retreating. In return for this “favor,” the US administration will make sure that those who are ambitious to take power, even if it means demolition of democratic order will have the opportunity to stage a coup in fulfillment of their agenda. For this reason, ultranationalists are not nationalists who observe the interests of this nation.
This is why the murders, bombings and gangs have taken the stage again.
Eroding the prestige and legitimacy of the armed forces is part of this game.
Those who love the nation, the homeland and the flag of this country would exert the utmost effort to abort the plot.
We can abort this plot only if the administration, the judiciary and the armed forces stand firm and rely on the rule of law and democratic principles.
