‘Köprüdekiler’ receives best movie award at Ankara Film Festival
In the ceremony, held at the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall in Ankara, “11’e 10 Kala” (10 to 11) director Pelin Esmer was honored with the Best Movie Director Award, while Saadet Işıl Aksoy received the Best Leading Actress Award and Mert Fırat the Best Leading Actor Award, both for their parts in “Başka Dilde Aşk” (Love in Another Language).
The jury also honored Selen Uçar with the Best Supporting Actress Award for her part in “Büyük Oyun” (A Step Into the Darkness) and Volga Sorgu with the Best Supporting Actor Award for his part in “Kara Köpekler Havlarken” (Black Dogs Barking).
Orhan Eskiköy and Özgür Doğan’s “İki Dil Bir Bavul” (On the Way to School), a big screen documentation of a school year in a Kurdish village in southeastern Turkey through the story of a newly appointed teacher on his first-ever post, was honored with the Mahmut Tali Öngören Special Award. The jury also recognized short films in three categories: fictional, experimental and animation.
