Ankara film festival announces jury

Filmmaker Tayfun Pirselimoğlu and stage and screen actor Mahir Günşiray will be among the names that will decide the winners of the national feature film competition at this month’s Ankara International Film Festival, the organizers of the event announced on Friday.The festival will mark its 21st edition on March 11-21 in the Turkish capital. Eleven films are in the running for awards in 16 categories in this year’s national feature competition, including the drama “11’e 10 Kala” (10 to 11) by Pelin Esmer, the feature documentary “İki Dil Bir Bavul” (On the Way to School) by co-directors Özgür Doğan and Orhan Eskiköy and the romance “Başka Dilde Aşk” (Love in Another Language) by İlksen Başarır.

Joining Pirselimoğlu and Günşiray on the feature competition jury will be revered cinema academic Ertan Yılmaz, well-known novelist Hasan Ali Toptaş and Fırat Yücel, the editor-in-chief of the monthly cinema magazine Altyazı.

The festival will open with a gala on the evening of March 10 at the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Concert Hall.
