In a written statement released by Deloitte yesterday, the company announced that Arçelik was ranked 136th on the list, while Vestel and Anadolu Efes occupied the 195th and 245th places, respectively. Arçelik’s net sales grew by 2.3 percent to $5.27 billion in 2008 compared to the previous year, while Vestel’s net sales rose by 1.4 percent in 2008 over 2007 to $3.65 billion, and Anadolu Efes’ net sales climbed by 21.1 percent in the same period to $2.85 billion, the statement read. These three companies were also listed among four companies with the highest growth rate in revenue in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The report, indicating that a number of companies suffered from a drop in revenue and profit in 2008, noted that 88 of the 250 companies on the list saw a decrease in sales, a figure nearly two times of that in prior years, and 28 of the 222 companies that revealed their profits and losses posted losses, while this figure was 13 in 2007. The total turnover of the 250 companies increased to $3.2 trillion in 2008 from $3 trillion in 2007.

With revenues of $118.3 billion, Hewlett-Packard occupied the top place on the list, while Samsung and Nestle came in second and third, respectively.
