EXHIBITIONS An exhibition titled “Osmanlı Döneminde Venedik ve İstanbul: Nam-ı Diğer Aşk” (Venice and İstanbul During the Ottoman Era: In Other Words, Love) is on display until Feb. 28 at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in İstanbul’s Emirgan district. The museum is closed on Mondays.
“Türk Resim Sanatının Bir Asırlık Öyküsü II” (A Century of Turkish Painting), a selection of paintings by 20th century Turkish artists from the private collection of Ahu and Can Has, has opened at the Rezan Has Museum in İstanbul’s Cibali quarter. Visiting hours: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. every day.
A sculpture exhibition by Erwin Wurm, internationally acclaimed Austrian contemporary artist, will open on Nov. 24 at Akbank Sanat and will run through Jan. 2. Calling humor a weapon, Wurm will show how a weapon can be used peacefully.
Ankara’s Gallery Nev is ending its 25th year of exhibitions with a display of the works of Serhat Kiraz. The exhibition, which opened on Friday, features canvases by Kiraz as well as an installation composed of 25 pieces formed of documents and photographs selected from the 25-year-old archives of the gallery.
Gallery Artist Çukurcuma in İstanbul’s Beyoğlu district is hosting an exhibition titled “Kaç Zaman ?7” (How Many Times ?7) by Safiye Mine Erdurak, who questions time in her canvases. The exhibition will run through January.
“Mistikler Diyarı Hindistan” (India, a Land of Mystics), Turkish movie critic Atilla Dorsay’s newest collection of photographs, is on view until Dec. 5 at the Beşiktaş Art Gallery in the Nisbetiye quarter.
“What the Coins Tell us? Symbols and Multicultural Aspects in Medieval Anatolian Coins,” featuring 180 original coins from the private collection of Kazım Taşkent, is on view at the Yapı Kredi Vedat Nedim Tör Museum in İstanbul’s Beyoğlu district until Dec. 31.
“Site,” an exhibition of installations by Turkish-born Armenian conceptual artist Sarkis Zabunyan, runs through Jan. 10 at İstanbul Modern. The museum is closed on Mondays.
The exhibition “Chagall: Life and Love” runs until Jan. 24 at İstanbul’s Pera Museum, featuring a 160-piece collection of drawings, prints and paintings by the 20th century master. The museum is closed on Mondays.
A retrospective of Paris-based Turkish artist Yüksel Arslan’s work is on view at Santralİstanbul contemporary art center until March, offering more than 500 pieces by the artist.
The works of Uzbek miniature artist Jahongir Ashurov are on display in an exhibition at Yıldız Sarayı in İstanbul. Set to run through Nov. 26, the exhibition features over 60 works by the artist.
FILM SCREENINGS
The Ankara Cinematheque Society screens arthouse and classic films in admission-free showings every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as part of its weekly program, which runs throughout the year at the society’s headquarters, located on Büklüm Sokak, No: 16 in Kavaklıdere.
A selection of 22 films by German directors is offered in a weekly film program that runs through December at the Goethe Institut in İstanbul. Admission is free of charge. Showings take place each Friday at 7 p.m.
İstanbul’s Osmanlı Bank Museum offers documentaries that explore social issues every week as part of its year-round film program. Due to restoration at the museum building in Karaköy, the showings are being held at İstanbul Technical University’s Taşkışla campus.
