The DIT Pratik, which the bank had been testing for more than a year in limited areas such as mass transportation in a few pilot regions across Anatolia, will now be available throughout Turkey.
Holders of the new DIT card will not be required to open an account with Bank Asya to use this debit card. A customer will be able to use the card after adding an amount to it in any Bank Asya office, ATM or member store.
DIT Pratik holders will be able to use the card as any other debit card while shopping up to the amount on the card and will also use it as a means of payment in places that have contact-less point of sale (POS) devices. In addition, DIT Pratik users will enjoy bonuses every time they add money to the card to use while shopping.
The DIT Pratik card promises more security as it removes its carrier’s need to carry cash, provides ease of application in payments less than TL 35, rendering no prerequisite to open an account and is possible to be presented to anyone as a gift.
Promoting the DIT Pratik card in a press conference in İstanbul, Bank Asya General Manager Ünal Kabaca said his bank’s investment in technology is proceeding without pause thanks to the company’s vision of “being the leading bank in contact-free payment services.”
He also addressed the bank’s third quarter financial statements. In the first nine months, Bank Asya’s assets rose 37 percent over the same period a year ago to reach TL 11.11 billion. Its net profits rose by 36 percent to TL 220 million in the same period.
Cash loans saw a dramatic increase -- 19 percent -- over the same period, contrary to the overall tendency of banks growing more shy in extending loans amidst a global economic crisis, he said. Kabaca promised Bank Asya will continue to stand by its customers in the coming period.
Following Kabaca’s speech, Bank Asya Assistant General Manager Mustafa Büyükateş gave more details about the new card. He predicted that in the near future, prepaid cards will completely replace the use of cash and coins and asserted that this will make it possible to register even transactions in small amounts, augmenting tax revenues. DIT Pratik will be used on public transportation vehicles from buses to ferries and in other places, such as cabs, toll booths, university cafeterias and so on.
The card will come in five types: the DIT Pratik nameless card, the DIT Pratik card with a name, the DIT Pratik gift card, the DIT Pratik pocket money card and the DIT Pratik campus card.
