The miserable state of the CHP…

The CHP keeps losing because it no longer represents the society or the spirit of the era in which we live. And it becomes a more and more wretched party because it shoulders the role of being flag bearer for a political model which is completely bankrupt. How has it done this?

By becoming the basic carrier for a Kemalist modernization project that has aimed to create an official “person” within the framework of an official identity, which is itself based on the concept of a “Turkish-secular citizen” identified by his or her lifestyle, stances, rights and perceived duties. And yes, it is due to the fact that the CHP still pursues this model and even defends this model that it has dwindled to its current wretched state.

And it is also because the CHP views all models for identity and demands which lie outside the above-described Kemalist model as a departure from the norm that it falls further into this miserable state.
