The “anti-ism” movie selection features films that take a stand against capitalism, war, the bourgeoisie, education, torture, nationalism, militarism, sexism, exploitation and authority, taking the recent economic, political, social and cultural developments in Turkey and the rest of the world into consideration. Classic films as well as recent ones will be shown during the festival, which is organized by the Ankara Cinema Association and supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture.

Among the movies that will be shown in the festival’s “anti” section are Chris Smith, Dan Olman and Sarah Price’s “The Yes Men,” a comedic documentary opposing capitalism; Jean-Pierre Melville’s “Le Silence de La Mer” (The Silence of the Sea), a timeless classic against war; and Luis Bunuel’s “Le Charme Discret de la Bourgeoisie” (The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie), a sharply critical film mocking the bourgeoisie. The “anti” section of the festival features one Turkish movie, Çayan Demirel’s documentary “5 No’lu Cezaevi” (Prison No. 5). Demirel’s film documents incidents at Diyarbakır Prison from Sept. 12, 1980, when a coup took place in Turkey, to 1984. Opposing torture, the documentary is made up of interviews with former inmates of the prison. In addition to the “anti” section, the festival program also includes 10 films’ Turkish premieres in Artvin and an international film competition.
