Forty-four people were brutally murdered in Bilge, Mardin province, during a engagement ceremony on May 4. The cause of the bloodshed was an alleged interfamily dispute. Thirty-two apartments were readied and furnished for 50 children, 20 women and three men and a bedridden person who are expected to go to Kırklareli at the end of November.

The houses will come ready with books for children, toys and pastels in addition to high-quality refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers. The homes range in size from 90 to 150 square meters. Furthermore, two experts working at the Adana and İstanbul branches of the Social Services and Child Protection Agency (SHÇEK) who speak Kurdish will be ready to help them.

Meanwhile, 11 suspects, including one minor, are being tried for the May murders. They are currently being held at the Çorum Type L High Security Prison. The murder suspects contend that they committed the murders in the name of honor. Gunmen attacked a wedding party in the village in May, killing 44 people in what was called the bloodiest attack in the history of the republic, shocking the nation. A parliamentary commission conducting an investigation into the attack said in a report that a row over the distribution of income from illegal trade in oil was a possible motive behind the attack.
