Turkey’s President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan got together with Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last weekend in İstanbul on the occasion of a meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Davutoğlu informed ElBaradei, chairman of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), about talks with Ahmadinejad as well as his meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Manuchehr Motaki, spokesman Burak Özügergin said.
Davutoğlu exchanged views with ElBaradei on the phone, and ElBaradei provided technical information to the Turkish foreign minister, Özügergin said, adding that Turkish officials would keep in touch with ElBaradei.
Turkey has maintained a stance that insists upon a diplomatic option and dialogue to solve Iran's nuclear issue.
