Taraf: It’s Greece’s turn on the list of countries with which Turkey is solving problems in line with its “zero-problem with neighbors” policy, the daily reported in its major story yesterday. Following the government’s initiatives with neighbors such as Syria, Iraq and Armenia, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a letter to Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou asking him to accelerate cooperation between the two countries. In his letter, Erdoğan also talked about his proposals for strengthening cooperation with Greece, saying: “My government has the will to improve our relations in all respects. Let’s sit around a table with mutual respect and understanding.”

Haber Türk: “Watch out, you may see GMO,” the daily said in the headline of its main story yesterday, reporting that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has intervened in an ongoing debate about a recently adopted regulation on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The prime minister ordered that ships which carry genetically modified soybean and corn be denied the right to enter Turkey, while Agriculture Minister Mehdi Eker said the regulation aims to put the imports of GMOs under supervision, contrary to the arguments of some circles who say that the regulation will make the entry of GMOs to Turkey easier.

Sabah: A committee on gender equality in Parliament has completed a study on early marriages and women, which the daily called a social wound for Turkey. The study, which aims to prevent the marriage of 13 to 15-year-old women and delay the age at which they become mothers, will be brought to Parliament in the coming days.
