DO WHAT IS NECESSARY FOR DEMOCRACY

The original of the "dirty conspiracy document against nation and the government" which was rejected by the General Staff saying "a piece of paper" and which has been revealed later, created repercussion in public.

Eyes turned to the General Staff and jurisdiction on the action plan bearing the original signature of Colonel Dursun Cicek.

All the segments of the society, including the journalists, politicians and retirmed miltary jurisdiction members are now expecting perpetrators of the scandal plan to be revealed.

A POLICE LAID OFF IN AZERBAIJANI FLAG INVESTIGATION

The investigation, which was launched after Azerbaijani flags were found in garbage, during Turkey-Azerbaijani match on October 14, concluded.

Bursa Governor Sahabattin Harput said one police officer was dismissed as a resut of a disciplinary investigation.

ERDOĞAN: "DEMOCRACY NEEDS TOLERANCE"

"Both the administrators of this country and those who are willing to solve the terror problem should show tolerance," Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Saturday aboard his plane to Pakistan. Erdoğan said he did not approve the welcoming celebrations during the surrender of a group of 34 PKK members last week at the Habur border gate with Iraq. "But we should not forget one thing: Democracy is a regime of tolerance." Erdoğan said an expected arrival more PKK members from Europe had been postponed due to reactions to celebrations at Habur.

MINISTER SAYS SOUTHEAST IS AN OPPORTUNITY NOT A BURDEN

State Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said the government saw Turkey's southeast "not as a burden but as an opportunity which needs to be explored." "The country's southeast has a potential that needs to activated," Yilmaz said during the opening ceremony of the Mardin branch of the MUSIAD, a Turkish business association.

CESS: CONTROL OF PARLIAMENT ON ARMY SHOULD BECOME ACTIVE

The Center of European Security Studies (CESS) based in the Netherlands prepared a comprehensive study examining Turkey's EU process with respect to military-civilian relations. Joost Lagendijk, co-chairman of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, will submit the report which has been turned into a book, to State Minister and Chief Negotiator for the EU talks Egemen Bagis.

Referring to the traditional role of the army in Turkey, the study said military coups had a negative effect on political traditions.

HUGE SHOWDOWN AT İSTANBUL DERBY

Archrivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are set to settle accounts at an İstanbul derby on Sunday in the Turkey's premier soccer league. The first showdown this season between the Canaries and the Lions will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Fenerbahçe's Şükrü Saraçoglu Stadium. Galatasaray seeks to break a chain of losses against its rival as Fenerbahçe wants its 10th victory.

BRITISH AMBASSADOR URGES PATIENCE IN DEMOCRATIC MOVE

British Ambassador in Ankara David Reddaway called for patience in the process of Turkish government's democratic initiatives. "You have to be patient. This should not be turned into the victory of just one side. No one can win until everyone wins," Reddaway said.

SWINE FLU CLAIMS FIRST VICTIM IN TURKEY

A 29 year-old man has died after being diagnosed with swine flu at a hospital in capital Ankara, becoming the first victim of the influenza H1N1, said a statement from the Health Ministry. The statement said that the total number of swine flu cases reached to 958 as of Saturday.

RETURN FROM EUROPE POSTPONED, Erdoğan SAYS

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Saturday an expected arrival of more PKK members from Europe had been postponed after popular and political reactions to the celebrations during the surrender of a group of 34 PKK members last week at the Habur border gate with Iraq. "There is a crisis of confidence after what happened at Habur, which hurt a major part of the society," Erdoğan told reporters aboard his plane to Pakistan. The second group of PKK members are expected to arrive in İstanbul on October 28.

STREET BRAKE AGAINST MOVE

As reaction against the show of PKK in Habur grows like a snowball, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said arrival of 15-people group in Europe was delayed because of "confidence crisis".

At an atmosphere where Turkey's streets were a stage to demonstrations against PKK, people were wondering how the 15-people group that would come from Europe to İstanbul on October 28 would be welcomed.

Erdoğan said people felt extremely uneasy and noted, "this is a national unity project. We can not damage something while trying to mend the other. Arrival of PKK members in Europe was postponed."

SWINE FLU KILLS ONE PERSON IN ANKARA

Health Ministry said a 29-year-old cleaning worker, working in Ankara's Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Hospital, died of swine flu.

The ministry said the youngster under treatment in hospital because of pneumonia, was the first person in Turkey who lost his life because of H1N1 virus.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, aboard the plane on his way to Pakistan on Saturday evening, commented on return of PKK members.

Erdoğan said, "those that occurred in surrender of 34 people are obvious. We can not damage something, while trying to mend the other. We don't have the right to do this."

The police who threw Azerbaijani flag on the ground during Turkey-Armenia match was laid off his job.

FIRST DEATH IN ANKARA

Health Ministry said a patient lost his life because of influenza A/H1N in Ankara.

29-year-old M.G. was under treatment in intensive care unit in Ankara's Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Hospital.

The ministry said the patient, working as cleaning worker in the hospital, lost his life because of H1N1 on Saturday evening.

ANTI-GOVERNMENT PLOT DOCUMENT RE-SHAKES POLITICAL ARENA

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he would closely monitor developments after a criminal court in İstanbul has reportedly received a letter together with the original copy of a document allegedly prepared to besmirch the Justice and Development (AK) Party and the Gulen movement. "The document is now in the hands of justice. We will do exactly what the courts would ask of us. We will closely monitor developments," Erdoğan told reporters on Saturday aboard his plane to Pakistan. "And the armed forces would not accept such a thing," he said. A colonel with the Turkish military, Dursun Cicek, was briefly detained several months ago when a xerox copy of the alleged document was revealed. Cicek was later released as court said the xerox copy could not be accepted as a credible evidence. A forensic team reportedly said on Wednesday that the signature on the original copy of the document was of Col. Cicek's hand writing.

FIRST SWINE FLU VICTIM IN ANKARA

Swine flu has claimed first victim in Turkey, the Health Ministry said. The 29 year-old man was diagnosed with the H1N1 strain three days ago and he died on Saturday after his condition worsened due to pneumonia in hospital in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
