Qatar, Turkey lift visa requirements

Turkey and Qatar have ended mutual visa requirements, days after Turkey and Syria abolished visa requirements in a bid to bolster bilateral ties.

The decision to allow visa-free travel to and from Qatar was made by the Turkish Cabinet on Sept. 29 and went into force yesterday, when the decision was published in the Official Gazette. Turkish nationals are allowed to travel without a visa to a number of countries in addition to Qatar and Syria, including Andorra, Argentina, Albania, Bahamas, Barbados, Samoa, Belize, Brazil, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Indonesia, Morocco, Fiji, the Philippines, the Gambia, Georgia, Grenada, South Africa, South Korea, Croatia, Hong Kong, Iran, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), Costa Rica, Macedonia, Maldives, Malaysia, Mauritius, Monaco, St. Lucia, San Marino, Seychelles, Singapore, the Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Tuvalu, Uruguay and Vatican City.
