Beşir Atalay
Beşir Atalay
Interior Minister Beşir Atalay has said they are closely following search efforts to find three children who went missing on Sept. 21, the second day of Eid al-Fitr, after leaving home to collect candy in Kayseri's Talas district.

Speaking before the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) yesterday, Atalay stated that they had sent two teams of experts to the province, adding that they are investigating every possible lead. “We are already in contact with the Health Ministry in case the organ harvesters are involved in this incident,” he said.

Noting that the Kayseri Governorship and a number of police units are working on the issue intensely, Atalay stated: “The search efforts are maintained not only in Kayseri but nationwide as well. Both the gendarmerie and the police department are using all of their resources to find the missing children. We are doing our best to find them.”

Children scared to leave their homes

Children around Kayseri are scared to leave their homes after the disappearance of the three children. They reportedly do not want to go outside, fearing that they might be abducted as well. Nurettin Yıldız, a Kayseri resident, said the news has affected his son, who asks him questions about the missing children every day. “Although I try to prevent him from watching the news, he learns about them when he goes to school. He normally goes out every day to play with his friends, but he does not want to do that anymore,” Yıldız added.
