Speaking to reporters in the western province of Çanakkale, where he had traveled to attend the inauguration of a solid waste storage facility, Pierini said the first step was the EU negotiation process being carried out over various topics, including energy, the environment and societal affairs. Pierini said the second step was Turkey's pre-accession financial assistance program, noting that the program’s goal was to assist Turkey in upgrading its standards in every area ahead of accession to the union.
Pierini said this process would have a very important impact on the business world. He also said the EU delegation was trying to enable the respective Turkish and EU business worlds to deepen their relationships.
Pierini said there were currently 15 EU Information Centers, with plans to open two more, in Ankara and İstanbul.
