In a written statement, the Turkish Health Ministry said on Wednesday that three people aged 5, 13 and 26, and a baby below the age of 1 were the most recent victims of the swine flu. The ministry said 145 people infected with swine flu were currently under treatment in hospitals. "Thirty-three of the 145 people are in intensive care units," the statement said. The statement said the vaccination of health care workers and Turkish pilgrims set to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj were ongoing, with mass vaccination of schoolchildren to begin at the end of November.
Pregnant women in Turkey will receive a special form of the swine flu vaccine. Turkey will import 1 million doses which do not contain "adjuvant" for pregnant women. Adjuvant-free vaccines are set to arrive in Turkey in December.
