‘Moral politics’

We know that Western public opinion will see this incident as more proof that “Turkey has turned its back to the West and its face to Islam.” Will our foreign policy be dominated by a set of inconsistencies and a lack of principles that are mostly interpreted in a narrow sense to correspond to transient interests and which we generally call “real politics,” or will we continue to walk along what we know is the correct path by siding with the oppressed against the tyrants and with the rule of law against illegitimacy? We have always won when we did the latter.
