A survey of 1,600 passengers was conducted March 23-24, while tickets were being sold at a promotional TL 5. The survey included six multiple-choice questions and a section for comments and complaints. The high-speed train travels between Ankara and Eskişehir.Ninety percent of passengers use the train to travel between Ankara and Eskişehir exclusively, with the other 10 percent going on to travel to İstanbul or Kütahya. The majority of passengers are students (27 percent), retired persons (26 percent) and civil servants (15 percent).
With the end of the promotional period for the new train, tickets will be sold at the full fare of TL 20. Twenty-six percent said that they chose to ride the train because it's economical. Answering a question on the survey asking whether they would continue to ride the line when the full fare is instituted, 40 percent said they would definitely continue to use it, 38 percent said they would continue to use it and 13 percent were undecided; 7 percent said they would definitely not continue to use it when prices rose and 2 percent said they would not continue to use it.
Twenty percent of respondents said they were entirely satisfied with their travel experience on the high-speed train, while 11 percent said it had to be cheaper and 5 percent said the trains needed to come more frequently. Seven percent of passengers complained that half of the seats in the train were backwards relative to the direction the train is traveling in.
