Turkish student wins gold medal in ecology competition

Meanwhile, ranking first among 195 contestants, Turkish student Zeynep Şule Tekten has won the gold medal in the Russian Ecology Olympiad, hosted by the Russian-Turkish College and organized by Moscow Department of Education, the Moscow Open Education Institute and the Directorate of Education of Southwestern Moscow. Tekten's project was on fertilizer production with the help of worms bred at home in vermiculite. Tekten prepared and presented the project in Russian and has thus far received five medals in ecology and biology competitions, two of which are gold.

The Russian-Turkish College's overall success is also increasing. The students of the school have ranked first three times, second twice and third six times in nationwide scientific competitions held in Russia. The college stands 12th in mathematics and sciences and 17th overall on the list of Moscow Department of Education's listing of the top 100 schools in the city.

Apart from success in Russia, the college has won two gold and three bronze medals at the International Environmental Project Olympiad (INEPO) held in İstanbul and two silver medals at the Environmental Project Competition held in Houston.

Such competitions are of vital importance for students, helping them gain admission to universities across the country and receive scholarships. The Ecology Olympiad in Russia, which has been held annually for 10 years, is particularly important in contributing to raising awareness among students about environmental issues and finding scientific solutions to environmental problems.
