The company said it presented bids for a tender to modernize and operate the existing cargo terminal, the Brownfield site, of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi for 25 years.

The company has also submitted a bid to construct and operate a new cargo terminal, at the Greenfield site, at the same airport for 25 years.

Indira Gandhi International Airport is the second largest airport in India in terms of cargo traffic; some 430,000 tons of cargo was transported through this airport in 2008. The amount of cargo transferred via the airport has been increasing by around 10 percent per year since 2001.

Earlier in November 2008, the CGH/NAS consortium, of which Çelebi is a part, won a tender to provide ground services for 10 years at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Under the contract, the consortium will be providing ground handling services at this airport, the biggest airport in India in terms of traffic.

Founded in 1958 as the first privately owned ground handling services company in the Turkish aviation industry, Çelebi provides services including passenger traffic, communication, cargo, aircraft security and terminal operations. Çelebi is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Aviation Handlers' Association (IAHA), the Airports Council International (ACI), the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and it is also a founding member of AVIANCE, the first ever alliance of airport services providers in the world.
