Orhan Kemal’s memoir
of prison years in English

The late Turkish author Orhan Kemal’s memoir “Nazım Hikmet’le 3.5 Yıl,” in which he chronicles his prison years with poet Nazım Hikmet through letters and diaries, has been published in English by the Orhan Kemal Culture Center.

Orhan Kemal was the pen name of Mehmet Raşit Öğütçü, the realist novelist-playwright who lived from 1914 to 1970. “Orhan Kemal in Jail with Nazım Hikmet” was translated into English by Bengisu Rona.
