The Palestinian minister and Akdağ had their first meeting in Ankara and discussed Turkey supplying Palestine with medical materials and educating Palestinian medical staff. Naim said Akdağ received their request favorably and that cooperation will begin in the coming days. Naim later gathered with Turkish doctors at a meeting organized by the Humanitarian Aid Foundation (İHH) at İstanbul's Saray restaurant. Naim spoke during the meeting about the latest developments taking place in Palestine. Commenting on conditions in Palestine, Naim said: "Two hundred five people have died in Gaza this year due to a lack of medicine. They could have been alive today had they been treated. Palestinian patients have no choice but to go abroad and seek treatment there. Additionally, 1,000 people who have sustained injuries are awaiting treatment."

Highlighting that Gaza residents suffer from a shortage of medicine, Naim added: "Gaza has been under military occupation by Israel for 40 years. There have been serious problems in medical staff and materials during that occupation. Also, due to the occupation, a serious investment in the health sector could not be undertaken. Moreover, planned and newly launched medical projects have come to a complete halt."
