Speaking at the reception English Time founder Fethi Şimşek stated that when they established English Time 10 years ago their concern was to raise the quality level of English education in Turkey. He said they have been achieving this aim without making any concessions since 1998. "English Time is the first [language school in Turkey] to establish international branches using domestic capital," Şimşek said, pointing out the institution's importance to the Turkish economy. "So far nearly 60,000 students have graduated from our courses in Turkey. … We have facilitated these students' integration into the world by teaching them a second language," Şimşek said. He also stressed that they have destroyed the belief in Turkey that a foreign language cannot be learned without going abroad.
Today's Zaman Editor-in-Chief Bülent Keneş was recognized for the English language daily's collaboration with the language school, which includes a daily page devoted to language instruction prepared by English Time. Keneş thanked English Time for its work and joked that its success in teaching people English leads to a greater readership for the English daily.
Turkish Airlines (THY), the Doğan Media Group and personal development specialist Mümin Sekman were also among those whose cooperation was praised by English Time at the event.
Offering a high quality year-round six-level English program, English Time provides its students with a fundamental opportunity to learn English in an international atmosphere. As the fastest-growing language school in Turkey, it also prepares its own textbooks and provides specialized education for private institutions.
