Recep Yıldırım, 43, has been living in Colombia for six years and working at a farm he owns in Santa Domingo city, 450 kilometers from the capital of Bogotá, the agency quoted a source from the Antioquia police department as saying. Yıldırım was kidnapped on Saturday by a large, well-armed group, the source added, noting that an investigation concerning the incident was under way. Officials at the Turkish Foreign Ministry in Ankara were unable to either deny or confirm the kidnapping case as of Monday, saying that they were examining the report. Meanwhile, Anatolia noted that both the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), which is Latin America's largest and longest-fighting insurgency, and a smaller rebel group, the National Liberation Army (ELN), have been particularly active near the area where Yıldırım was kidnapped. The United States sends Colombia about $600 million a year to combat drug smuggling and to battle the FARC and the ELN. Colombia is the largest recipient of US aid in the Americas.
