When asked about plans for the project while attending Victory Day celebrations in İstanbul yesterday, Topbaş stated that they would launch tender studies, though that method has substantial costs. Pointing to other countries suffering water problems, such as Israel and Saudi Arabia, who are using the same method, Topbaş underlined that the municipality plans to start with a capacity of 350,000 tons. “The project will [ultimately] provide 10-15 percent of İstanbul’s water need. I want to make it clear that we will never leave İstanbul residents without water. Whether seawater or other resources, we will do our best,” he noted.
