"I am in favour of a reform of the European Central Bank, in such a way that the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar should also be decided by the authorities," Royal, the Socialist candidate in the upcoming presdidential election told i-tele television on Wednesday. "Airbus is 30 percent more expensive because of the very  strong relation between the euro and the dollar," she said. "So we have to act on its policies, act on industrial policy, make sure that the state assumes its responsibilities." Royal also said that worker representatives should have a stronger role in company decision-making and should have a place on the boards of big groups, along the lines of the system in countries such as Germany. "If the workers sat on the board of directors of companies they could sound the alarm much more quickly," she said.
