Projections on supply and demand are also in the report, according to information gathered by the Anatolia news agency. Two scenarios, one optimistic the other pessimistic, displayed in these projections read that Turkey will face shortages in 2009 or 2011. It also pointed out that if any snags happen in expected infrastructure investments Turkey may see shortages in 2008. The medium and short-term strategies to keep supplies safe are also listed in the draft version and recommends following the markets closely and not increasing the duration of investments.

The medium-term strategy is projected to 2015 and focuses on electricity market efficiency and proper operation of safety mechanisms. The first of these mechanisms is providing one-to-one information; to this end a committee composed of concerned bodies is foreseen. A second mechanism is to provide sufficient financial resources to prevent government-funded investments from decreasing.

The report says that the legal grounds had been regulated against any trouble that may threaten supply safety, like completing the unfinished investments by the state-owned Electricity Production Corp. (EÜAŞ). The draft will be discussed at a workshop in Ankara on Thursday. The conclusion from the workshop will be reflected in the final version of the report.
