Sabah: “Yes to freedom,” the daily said in the headline of its main story yesterday, quoting remarks from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who spoke at his party’s referendum rally in İstanbul on Sunday. Erdoğan said voting “yes” in the upcoming referendum will mean saying “yes” to democracy, freedoms, justice and law.
Yeni Şafak: Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu has said he told Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is carrying out a campaign against constitutional reforms that will be presented to a referendum on Sept. 12, that he would vote in favor of the amendments, the daily reported in a front-page story yesterday. Indicating that TOBB is an institution that thinks Turkey’s most pressing need is a new constitution, Hisarcıklıoğlu said a strong democracy is possible after increasing the quality of democracy. He also said he does not find it right that TOBB has been asked to state its institutional stance on the reforms, the daily said.
