Beşiktaş Chairman Fikret Orman has said the club is yet to make a decision on a new coach at a board meeting in the coming days.
Speaking at a Beşiktaş fan club event in İzmir on Wednesday, Orman said the negotiations for a coach are not yet concluded and therefore the issue has not been discussed in board meetings. “There are a few complications. Then we’ll put the issue on our agenda at board meeting and make a final decision,” he said. Orman noted that he has a favorite name, as everybody else on the board does, but the final decision will be made democratically at the meeting. He rejected a report by BJK TV, the club’s own television station, that Beşiktaş agreed to sign with former coach Mustafa Denizli, adding that he is longtime friends with the experienced coach. Speaking about Beşiktaş’s financial woes, Orman said the club is waiting for some players to make a sacrifice and accept a decrease in their salary. “We won’t get into the debt we cannot pay. I am not a wizard. The situation of Beşiktaş is evident. We expect respect and support,” he added. Meanwhile, Beşiktaş signed a four-year deal with Sakaryaspor’s Berat Çetinkaya. The İstanbul club will pay Sakaryaspor TL 480,000 and Çetinkaya TL 950,000 as four years’ salary, excluding extras during the seasons, for the transfer.
