Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt is scheduled to arrive in İstanbul on Thursday for a signing ceremony after he agreed to a three-year contract with Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe.
Kuyt and Fenerbahçe had agreed on the transfer on a buyout clause worth 1 million euros. The Netherlands international will be shown off to fans at the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium later that afternoon. His arrival was not scheduled until later, but the Netherlands’ elimination from the Euro 2012 tournament resulted in a change of plans. Kuyt made a name for himself at FC Utrecht where he played for five years. His performance on the pitch earned him a transfer to Rotterdam side Feyenoord in 2003. Kuyt has been playing for English powerhouse Liverpool since 2006 and has scored 71 goals in 285 appearances for the club.
