The Third International Chess Tournament held by the Kahramanmaraş Municipality and the province’s sports directorate wrapped up on Sunday.
A total of 484 athletes participated in the event from Turkey, Georgia, Iran and Turkmenistan. The games were held in four categories: open, youth, junior and children. Fifteen athletes who triumphed in the four categories received monetary and other prizes. In the open group, Georgia’s David Zarkva won the title while the other three categories were won by Turkish athletes. Mehmet Temizel from Osmaniye, Ahmet Hamza Kaya from Malatya and Mehmet Güleç from Hatay clinched the top honors in the youth, junior and children categories, respectively.
