Spor Toto Super League leader Galatasaray aims to maintain its domestic league success in the Turkish Cup as well, as it entertains Sivasspor at Türk Telekom Arena in the fourth round of the competition today.

Galatasaray did not take a rest after Saturday’s derby versus archrival Fenerbahçe and instead started getting ready for Sivasspor. Although the İstanbul club aimed to end a 12-year-long winless streak at Kadıköy Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium versus Fenerbahçe, a 2-2 draw did not upset Galatasaray; in fact, the score helped keep a nine-point difference between the two teams on top of the domestic league. The players who took part in the 90 minute derby had a regeneration workout, while others played a scrimmage.

Galatasaray defeated Sivas 4-0 in an away match this month and 2-1 at home in the first half of the season. Sivasspor is in eighth place in the Spor Toto Super League. The team has not been able to clinch a victory in the last six league games, losing half and tying the other half. Sivasspor eliminated Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup in the 2008-2009 season and played in the semis.

Bursaspor takes on Ankara’s Bugsaş Spor from the third division in an away match on Tuesday. Undefeated in the last seven games, Bursaspor currently holds fifth place in the domestic league, trailing Trabzonspor by four points, and wants to focus on the league after advancing to the quarter final by defeating its weak opponent.

The winners of Turkish Cup games will advance to the quarter finals.
