Galatasaray Chairman Ünal Aysal has said the club has not received any official proposal to share its brand new stadium, Türk Telekom Arena, with arch-rivals Beşiktaş.
Ünal commented on the issue following a ceremony on Tuesday where Galatasaray’s flag was raised at a Büyükçekmece Municipality park to celebrate the team’s domestic league championship win. When asked about the recent speculation over Beşiktaş using the Arena stadium for the upcoming season while its own İnönü Stadium undergoes renovation, Aysal said no discussions had been held. Should Beşiktaş wish to play its games at the Arena, both “clubs will sit down and resolve the situation [in a friendly manner],” Aysal said. “It has various aspects: financial, commercial and legal. In addition, our fans and congress members have opinions. These will all be evaluated together and then the best decision will be made. No one should worry about that,” he said. Aysal also added that developments regarding new transfers to the football team would be made public at the end of the month.
