Beşiktaş Milangaz on Sunday lost a derby for the first time this season and was beaten by Fenerbahçe Ülker 86-82 on the road at Ülker Sports Arena, where no Beşiktaş fans were allowed to attend as part of an agreement between the two clubs.
In the game at Fenerbahçe’s brand new Ülker Sports Arena, which hosted its first derby, Fener fans did not abandon their team, filling almost the entire arena. Fenerbahçe forward Kaya Peker, who had scored 3,997 points up until the Beşiktaş game, was hoping to exceed the 4,000-point threshold but was disqualified in the first quarter after arguing with a Beşiktaş player. Beşiktaş coach Ergin Ataman was also disqualified as a result of tension between him and the table officials. Beşiktaş defeated Fenerabahçe Ülker 83-78, Galatasaray Medical Park 73-65 and Anadolu Efes 83-76 in other derbies of the season. Elsewhere, four games were played in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League (TKBL).
