Seven people who died in a blast that shook the southern city of Gaziantep have been identified.

Of the eight who died in the blast, three were children.

Almina Melisa Aker (1), Süleyman Alkan (3), Sevgi Gülperi İnanç (11), Davut Adak (31), Safi Canbaş (48), İsmail Daler (30) and Onur Fikret Aker (21) died in the blast. The identity of the eighth person who was killed in the blast has not yet been determined.

Onur Fikret Aker was a soldier who was on duty in the eastern province of Şırnak. He had come to Gaziantep for Eid al-Fitr.

A truck full of explosives was parked by the Karşıyaka Police Station late yesterday evening. The terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is believed to have detonated it remotely. The explosion engulfed two buses and a car.

PKK terrorists are active in the area, and the fight between Turkish security forces and the terrorists, who are seeking autonomy in the country's predominantly Kurdish Southeast, has intensified in recent weeks.
