Two die, 46 injured in accidents in Uşak, İzmir

Two people were killed and 46 others were injured in traffic accidents that took place in the western provinces of Uşak and İzmir on Friday.

A bus crashed into a truck in Uşak in the early hours of Friday, killing one person and injuring 39 others.

The bus, which was traveling from İzmir to Uşak and was driven by Kemal Havabilen, crashed into a truck driven by Ali Şarban. The accident reportedly happened when the bus driver fell asleep. Hüseyin Kaşıkçı, the bus attendant, died after becoming trapped in his seat during the accident, and 39 passengers were injured. Most of the injured were taken to hospitals in the area.

The Uşak-İzmir highway was closed to traffic for some time because of the accident. The bus driver and truck driver were both detained. An investigation has been launched into the accident.

The other accident took place in İzmir when a car crashed into a median strip, which caused a three-car pile-up. One person died and seven people were injured.

Sami Ormancı, the driver of the car that first crashed into the median strip, died at the scene of the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
