İstanbul Metrobus rams into passenger vehicle

A Metrobus en route to Avcılar crashed into an automobile on Tuesday morning, resulting in minor injuries to the bus driver and another person.

The Metrobus driver lost control of the vehicle after departing from the Mecidiyeköy stop and broke through the barrier dividing the Metrobus lane from road traffic.

The moment of the accident was captured on camera. The footage shows the Metrobus crashing through the barrier into the path of oncoming vehicles, hitting a car and then skidding several meters before coming to a stop. The rammed car was overturned, but none were injured in the incident. Pieces dislodged from the Metrobus and vehicle involved are seen to smash into the windows and body of a passing car but appear to cause only minor damage.

The İstanbul-Ankara side of the E-5 was closed to traffic for several hours following the accident. Metrobus services were also suspended for some time.

According to Osman Kömüşlü, driver of the vehicle hit by debris from the collision, the driver lost control of the Metrobus due to a flat tire. Kömüşlü said he was driving towards Zincirlikuyu when the accident happened.
