Professor Neriman İnanç, head of Erciyes University Health Sciences Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, pointed out that grapes and grape juice contain plenty of potassium, strengthening the heart muscles and thus lowering the risk of a heart attack by diluting the blood.
“Fresh grape juice, which is as healthy and nourishing as breast milk, has many benefits for human health. Potassium and iron in fresh grape juice are necessary for production of hemoglobin cells, which carry molecules of oxygen to the heart. Thus, fresh grape juice helps to discharge body toxins. In this way, grapes and fresh grape juice boost our immune systems,” İnanç explained.
İnanç also underlined that, since natural sugar in fresh grape juice easily dissolves in water, it is a great source of energy. “Vitamins and minerals in grapes and fresh grape juice dilute the blood and help to prevent many diseases including heart disease, high blood pressure, embolus and varicose veins,” she added. Inanç also suggested that those who suffer from blood coagulation disorders and cardiovascular disease should consume a cup of fresh grape juice every day.
Inanç also stated that while antioxidant vitamins and minerals in grapes help to prevent the skin from aging, vitamins A, B and C, potassium and iron, which are amply found in grapes and fresh grape juice, are also good for boosting the immune system.
