Couple's quarrel claims one life

An argument between a man and woman in the northwestern province of Kırıkkale on Monday ended with one person being shot and killed with a rifle, according to the Anatolia news agency.

Mehmet Duman (35) drove to a dam in Kırıkkale with his wife, Selda Duman, in a rented car. While in the vicinity of the dam, a dispute reportedly broke out between them for unknown reasons. Duman shot his wife with a rifle during the fight. She died at the scene. Mehmet Duman was taken into custody by the Kırklareli Police Department. Investigation reports say that the pair were married for 18 years and had two children.

The body of Duman was taken to the Council of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In another case of domestic violence in the western province of Eskişehir, İraz Ekinci died 10 days after being shot by her ex-husband Yalçın Demirbaş.
