Those traveling by public bus, train, metrobus, tram, funicular and boat during the three days starting on Sunday will benefit from the reduced prices. The municipality is also taking measures to prevent traffic problems in the city as the number of residents traveling is expected to increase; additional runs for all transportation vehicles have been added.
Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yıldırım has also recently announced that bridge and highway tolls will be free for five days.
“As opposed to the previous years, when tolls were waived only during Eid al-Fitr for three days, this year they will be waived for five days, between Aug. 18 and 22,” Yıldırım said.
Meanwhile, according to a Cabinet decision published in Thursday's Official Gazette, all public transportation will be free between Aug 19-21 in Ankara, while highway tolls will be waived for drivers for five days between Aug 18-22.
