The Hakkari Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday launched an investigation into a terrorist attack on a military outpost in Hakkari three days ago.

The terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) staged simultaneous attacks on military outposts in the Üzümlü, Karataş and Darnski hills of the Geçimli district, Hakkari province, on Saturday. An investigation has been launched by the Hakkari Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to identify who carried out the attack and who gave the orders.

Some PKK operatives were killed in clashes that subsequently took place between security forces and the PKK. The belongings of one of the PKK members killed included documents; it was not clear whether they included information that might lead to the capture of those behind the attack.

Six soldiers and two village guards were killed by the PKK in an attack on the outpost, while 15 soldiers, one village guard and five civilians were seriously injured. A total of 14 PKK terrorists were killed by security forces.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
