Kewell named Australia’s greatest

13 July 2012 /AP
Former Leeds and Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell has been named Australia’s greatest footballer in voting by fans, players and media.

Awards announced on Thursday also named the country’s greatest players by position. Kewell was joined by several teammates on the Socceroos -- Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer as Australia’s best goalkeeper, captain Lucas Neill, Everton star Tim Cahill and retired defender Craig Moore. Kewell was in Britain and did not collect the award in person. In June, he quit the Melbourne Victory in Australia’s A-League for family reasons.
