The “UR 01” car cost $30,000 and took the 15 students two years to build. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, weighs 290 kilograms and has an engine that generates 118 horsepower. Sixty percent of the materials used in the production of the car were made in Turkey. The project was mainly sponsored by the Uludağ Exporters Union (UİB).
It will be the first time that Turkish students are participating in the Formula Student, which will be held between July 11 and 15. The pilot of the UR 01 will be Ceyhan Kibar.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Kibar said they are extremely excited to represent their university, their province, Bursa, and their country in such an important competition.
