Specially authorized courts will be a thing of the past soon. Instead of them, regional high criminal courts that have similar duties and authority to the specially authorized courts will be introduced.
What is hopeful is that apart from National Intelligence Organization (MİT) officials, all terrorism and coup suspects can be investigated without looking at what their rank or duty is. Thus, chiefs of General Staff and other generals can be investigated for their relation to terrorism and coup crimes without seeking permission from their organization. Also, which prosecutors and judges will be assigned to regional high criminal courts will be determined by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK), meaning a total renewal in the staff will be made. In sum, it can be said that special authorization has turned into an authorization system that has been further restricted and carefully pruned.
