UEFA Vice President Şenes Erzik said worries that Turkey could have been barred from participating in European competitions due to a match-fixing scandal, which was revealed following the start of an investigation last July, were unfounded.
Şenes said in an interview broadcast on NTVSpor on Wednesday that reports saying Turkey would be banned from Europe if the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) did not impose sanctions on individuals and clubs implicated in the scandal were without basis. Erzik earlier served as president of the TFF, between 1989 and 1997.
