By order of the Malatya Specially Authorized Prosecutor’s Office, the Malatya Police Department’s counterterrorism units simultaneously raided several locations, including the BDP’s Malatya offices. Many documents pertaining to the KCK were seized by security units and 11 people were taken into custody to be interrogated for suspected links to the KCK. The investigation into the KCK, which prosecutors say is an umbrella organization for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and other affiliated groups, started in December 2009, as a result of which a large number of suspected KCK members, including several BDP mayors, have been detained.
