Turkey condemned an Israeli move to construct new units in the West Bank, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry said that Israeli settlement activity on Palestinian land violated international law. It added that Turkey condemned a decision on the opening of a tender for the construction of 551 housing units in settlements in the West Bank and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement that 300 housing units would be built in Beit El.
Israel's settlement activities undermined peace efforts, the statement further said. Turkey called on Israel to fulfill its responsibilities set out by international law for a lasting peace in the Middle East.
