Terrorist PKK kidnaps 10 villagers in Diyarbakır

25 May 2012 /TODAYSZAMAN.COM
A group of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists have allegedly kidnapped 10 villagers in the predominantly Kurdish province of Diyarbakır on Tuesday, the Cihan news agency reported on Friday.

The terrorist group allegedly raided two homes in Bayırlı village, Lice district, Diyarbakır province, on Tuesday night, kidnapping a woman and nine men. The PKK also reportedly threatened other villagers who tried to stop them and said they would kill the 10 villagers if anyone informed security officials.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the United States, has been waging a bloody war in Turkey's southeast since 1984. More than 40,000 people have been killed during the bloody conflict so far.

The organization is based in northern Iraq and launches attacks on Turkey from its hideouts in the mountainous region. The PKK also operates in various European cities.

ralph Barber: Zaman hasn't said PKK killed all 40,000 people. The phrase means, since PKK started rebellion more than 40,000 people have lost their lives on both sides. This is a terrible civil war. Sad. The ones suffering are the mothers of fallen fighters on both sides.

This penultimate paragraph gets trotted out on every news item about the PKK the inference being they have killed 40,000 people, maybe Zaman should make alittle more effort to explain the conflict Wiki entry contains this a far more telling analysis of the conflict According to human rights organisa...
