Six-time champion Boca Juniors advanced to the Copa Libertadores semifinals thanks to a 90th minute goal which secured a 1-1 draw against Fluminense on Wednesday night.
Corinthians also advanced to the final four when midfielder Paulinho scored a late winner against fellow Brazilian club Vasco da Gama. Boca had won the first leg 1-0 at home, but Thiago Carleto scored for Fluminense early Wednesday to level the quarterfinal on aggregate. A penalty shootout seemed likely until Santiago Silva scored the decisive goal to stun the crowd at the packed Engenhao Stadium in Rio.
