Kazakh Ambassador to Turkey Zhanseit Tuimebayev hosted a reception at the Swissôtel Ankara on Tuesday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence.

Turkish Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin, Secretary-General of the Presidency Mustafa İsen, AK Party Secretary-General Haluk İpek and senior military officials were also in attendance.

The reception was hosted by the Kazak ambassador and Kazakh commanders, where the traditions and customs of the country were exhibited.

Minister Şahin also sampled the traditional Kazakh food and drinks served to him.

Kazakhstan is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its independence within its national boundaries as well as around the world.

Kazakhstan hailed its ties with Turkey on the 20th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between the two countries last March.

Turks and Kazakhs share linguistic, religious, ethnic, historical and cultural ties and base their relationship on a strong partnership in the region.
